Camp Hope Visit

2024

Our Stand Down With Faith group recently had the privilege of visiting Camp Hope, where we were given an insightful tour of the facility.

We explored their housing accommodations, which can support between 60 to 100 veterans. The dining hall was another highlight, where everyone savors delightful meals. We had the chance to meet the committed kitchen staff, who begin their day bright and early, before 5:30 AM. We also checked out their weight and exercise room, as well as their “WalMart,” a free store stocked with shirts, pants, shoes, socks, suits, and other donated items that veterans can select to suit their needs.

During our visit, we enjoyed engaging conversations with the staff, many of whom are veterans themselves and have successfully completed Camp Hope’s six to nine-month PTSD recovery program. Their personal journeys make them exceptional mentors for the new veterans arriving from across the nation. They shared their experiences of the challenges they faced upon arriving at Camp Hope, how the program transformed their lives, and how some discovered a relationship with Christ along the way.

As representatives of Stand Down With Faith, we were honored to contribute a significant donation to Camp Hope, which we raised during a breakfast fundraiser at our church on Veterans Day Sunday.
